Callout for donations for a new space

Ⓐ-casă (at home or the anarchist house in Romanian) is an informal action group based on anti-capitalist, ecological, feminist, queer and non-discriminatory principles. We organize together actions, protests and many other events regarding issues such as gold mining, fracking, gentrification, racial discrimination, animal rights and we also take action against the political class. Through all the activities we are opposing existing structures and seek to develop an alternative critical mass of people that are able to take action collectively. Our actions are supported through donations and voluntary work. We need a permanent space that we can use on longterm.

We are based in Cluj city, Cluj county, in Romania. At the moment there is a lack of information and alternative spaces where groups could get organised in the area. In general, the perspective of the Romanian people is over conservative (church and religious traditions are over represented), so issues like gender or sex are rarely debated. On the other side there is a pro european liberal ideology that’s reflected in public discourse. There’s also a big ethnic segregation that’s blocking multi-ethnical and cultural cooperation.

We feel it will be hard to maintain a radical space in a context of ”europeanisation” and we will need to fight constantly with the trendy activism that’s coming with that. Also, on long-term there’s a need for involvement from more initiatives that are taking radical action and are willing to support the space. Cluj in an intense gentrification process and is becoming a very expensive city. This is highly reflected in the rent prices and the social housing fund available.

Our current space is supported by donations from people, during different public events where we served our home-brewed beer, home-baked bread and vegan food. As we had to pay a monthly rent, we felt the pressure of organizing parties or bigger events in order to gather the money. During the events it was hard to focus on political aspects and also it was/is hard to maintain the safe place Ⓐ-casă wants to be.

We imagine having a permanent safe space where groups and individuals can meet and organize events and activities or discuss, get informed. Our group plans to continue with our activities sand to develop the free library and info shop. The place could be used also for hosting traveller activists.
         
The house will be open to any group that keeps to a critical and radical approach and wants to organise an event or a meeting, or wants to get involved in the decision process of that house. We don’t want to become a „cool“ place where „alternative“ stuff is happening, but nothing radical and political.

Whenever there are public events the house will be open to anyone, but outside public events there might be a schedule. We don’t want to have the space open all the time for everyone. We would like to maintain a safer space and work in the direction of making people understand what that is and what our principles are.
              
We want to create a strong network of groups that are doing political work and open spaces for these groups to be able to function. We want to continue the activities and projects we are already involved in and depending on the context we are eager to take action against injustice and inequality.

We avoid formal power as much as possible. We are sharing infrastructure resources and information within the group and sometimes outside the group. We try to be aware of existing informal power and challenge it by discussions and rotating tasks.

We plan to collectively manage (horizontally organized, using consensus decision making process) this house. We want to extend our local network and invite other groups that share the same ideology to use the space.

At the moment there are a handful of people that are and will be active in Cluj and are willing to get involved in running this project on longterm and making it selfsustainable. We plan to develop this space as a platform in which new groups that will be active in the house will be also invited to take part into the decision making and management of the space.
                  
We talked about this house being part of a local network of autonomous social and living spaces that will all support each other and take action against all forms of oppression. We see this space as a starting point for developing this network, giving a possible example for radical longterm sustainable organising.

We are flexible in finding a place that fits our needs and can be bought with the amount of money we manage to gather.

The prices for the houses fulfilling our needs vary between 55.000 and 60.000 euros.

Vă propunem o lună martie plină de evenimente pe tema feminismului!

Începem cu data de 5 Martie cu un brunch la Ⓐcasă. De la ora 14.00 ne vom aduna să petrecem o după-masă chill unde vom mânca bunătățurile pregătite la cuptorul casei, vom bea limonadă sau bere de casă și vom pregăti împreună marșul de 8 Martie. Vrem să cunoaștem pe toate și toți cele/cei care sunt interesați de subiectul feminismului și vor să lupte alături de noi pentru schimbarea socială pe care ne-o imaginăm.

Vom avea și o zonă de lucru și creație la casă:
– Pentru a pregăti materialele necesare pentru marșul din 8 Martie (mai multe detalii despre marș in curând!) vom pregăti împreună bannere, mesaje scrise personalizate sau orice vrea fiecare să creeze pentru acest marș.
– Pentru cele și cei care vor să ajute la promovarea marșului și altor evenimente din cadrul lunii martie vom avea flyere de împărțit și afișe.
– Iar pentru cei și cele care vor să mai răsfoiască un zine sau să citească un articol, biblioteca va fi deschisă!

Pe parcursul lunii vom avea discuții săptămânale și proiecții de filme, party-uri și ateliere de skill sharing, evenimente pentru grupuri mixte, dar și evenimente destinate doar persoanelor care se identifică ca femei, menite să ne aducă împreună.

Înțelegem feminismul ca o mișcare de eliberare, de solidaritate și organizare împotriva patriarhatului și sexismului. Patriarhatul este un sistem ce lucrează la toate nivelele. El structurează nu doar cazuri evidente de discriminare de gen, ci și modul în care privim și ne raportăm la lume în general, modul în care interacționăm unii/unele cu alții/altele. Noi zicem că: Sexismu-i nașpa! Pentru că cei/cele care fac remarci sexiste sau acționează în baza unor credințe sexiste asumă din start, voit sau nevoit, ca bune rolurile sociale impuse și valorile pe care un gen sau altul trebuie să le aibă. Înțelegem că multe din comportamentele noastre sunt sculptate de societate, că aceste comportamente și atitudini sunt de multe ori inconștiente, dar vrem să ne dăm, în sfârșit, spațiul și timpul să construim împreună un nou model de organizare, bazat pe egalitate si înțelegere. Vrem să nu mai îngrădim liberele alegeri ale persoanelor când vine vorba de genul cu care se identifică, să nu mai categorizăm și să ne lăsăm fascinați/te de paleta de opțiuni pe care cineva poate să o abordeze. Sexismul e ca discriminarea pe bază de rasă, clasă sau orientare sexuală. Discriminări care sunt toate nașpa! Și apoi, când acestea toate se intersectează, vorbim de adevărata luptă pe care trebuie să o ducem! O luptă de eliberare de sub bocancul normativității, performanței, autorității și machismului. Vă chemăm astfel la solidaritate, căci feminismul este pentru toți și toate!

Această lună este o chemare la auto-reflecție și învățare împreună! Vrem să ne solidarizăm mai mult, să ne ascultăm mai mult; să înțelegem cum sistemul în care trăim ne formează credințele, acțiunile și sentimentele și care sunt metodele de a ne elibera din această structură prestabilită, atât de ierarhică, dominantă și constrângătoare.

Lupta e atât individuală, dar și colectivă. Propunem așadar să începem cu un brunch.

We’re proposing a month of March full of events centered around feminism!

We’ll start on the 5th of March with a brunch at A-casă. From 2 PM we’ll gather around to spend a chill afternoon, eating goodies prepared in the house oven, drinking lemonade or homemade beer and we can plan together a march for the 8th of March. We want to meet everyone interested in feminism and that want to fight with us for the social change we imagine.
We’ll also have a creative are at the house:
-We will prepare materials necessary for the march on 8th March: banners, personalized messages or anything else you would like to bring along;
-We’ll have flyers and posters for whoever wants to help promote the march and other feminist events;
-If you’d like to go through a zine, read an article or a book, the library will be open!

Throughout all of the month, we will have weekly discussions and movie projections, parties and skill-sharing workshops, but also events dedicated exclusively to people identifying as women which are meant to bring us closer together.

We understand through feminism a struggle for liberation, of solidarity and organizing against patriarchy and sexism. Patriarchy is a system that works at all levels. It structures not only evident cases of gender discrimination but also the way in which we see and relate to the world in general and the way in which we relate to one another. We think: sexism sucks! Because people who make sexist remarks take for granted the social roles and imposed values that one gender or another should have. We understand that a lot of our behaviors are sculpted by society and that this happens most of the time unconsciously, but we want to take space and time to find together a new way of organizing, based on understanding and equality. We don’t want to restrict the freedom of choice people have when choosing the gender they want to identify as, want to stop categorizing and let ourselves be fascinated by the palette of options we could actually choose from. Sexism is a lot like discrimination based on race, class or sexual orientation. All of them suck! And then, when they intersect, we can speak about the real struggle that we have to fight! This is a struggle for liberation from under the boot of normativity, performance, authority and machismo. So we call you in solidarity because feminism is for everybody!

This month is a call to self-reflection and learning together! We want to form closer bonds, listen to each other more; to understand how the system in which we live in shape our beliefs, actions and feelings and what are some methods to liberate ourselves from this predefined structure that si so hierarchical, dominative and constraining.

The fight is individual but also collective. Let’s start with a brunch!

Duminică, 14 februarie, începând cu ora 15:00, vă aşteptăm în spaţiul Ⓐcasă la Cafeneaua Politică.

Vrem să creăm un spaţiu de socializare în care toată lumea se poate simți bine, indiferent de gen, rasă, clasă, naționalitate, sexualitate, abilități și unde nu sunt tolerate comportamente opresive sau discriminatorii.

Haideți să petrecem o duminică lejeră Ⓐcasă!

Vă invităm la o poveste la o cafea! Împreună putem să dezvoltăm și să dezbatem viziunile cu privire la viitorul nostru. Ne dorim ca prin discuții să ne cunoaștem mai bine între noi, să creștem o comunitate mai unită, bazată pe încredere și ajutor reciproc, care contribuie la crearea unei societăți echitabile și juste.
Nu vor lipsi jocurile de socializare, jongleriile sau biblioteca plină de zine-uri și cărți.
Vom avea cafea, ceai, dar și bere de casă, iar cuptorul va scoate pentru prima dată în acest an multe pizza pentru toți și toate!

Cafeneaua a pornit din necesitatea unui spațiu de socializare mai sigur, liber de presiunea pieţei şi de povara consumului şi capitalului, liber de comportamentele discriminatorii de orice fel.
Evenimentele şi activităţile care se desfășoară la casă se bazează exclusiv pe donaţii prin care susţinem acest spaţiu.

P.S. Din cauza faptului că Betty, cățeaua casei, nu agreează deloc prezenţa altor câini, vă încurajăm să nu veniţi cu câini la eveniment.

You’re invited over for a coffee! Together we can discuss and envision our common future. We want to get to know ourselves better through discussions and create a strong community based on trust and helping eachother. Only such communities can contribute to creating a just and fair society.

The Cafe started out of the need for a safe social space without the pressure of the market and the burden of consumerism and capital.
All events and activities are donation-based, through which we maintain this space.

P.S. Because Betty, the house dog, is not really keen on other dogs being around, we strongly encourage you to come without your pets to this event.

Február 14. –én, vasárnap, 15 órai kezdettel szeretettel várunk Politikai Kávéházunkba.

Egy olyan biztonságos közeget szeretnénk létrehozni, ahol nem, faj, osztály, nemzetiség és szexuális orientációtól függetlenül bárki jól érezheti magát, egy elnyomás és diszkrimináció mentes helyen.

Gyertek töltsünk együtt egy kellemes vasárnap délutánt!

Beszélgessünk egyet egy kávé mellett! Osszuk és vitassuk meg egymással jövőképünket. A beszélgetések által alkalmunk nyílik jobban megismerni egymást, összetartóbb közösséget kovácsolni, hozzájárulva ezzel egy méltányosabb és igazságosabb társadalom létrehozásához.
Nem hiányozhatnak majd a különböző társasjátékok, zsonglőrjátékok illetve zine-okkal és olvasmányokkal teli könyvtárunk sem.
Lesz kávé, tea és házisör, kemencénkben pedig idén először ízletes pizza sül majd.

Az Ⓐcasă kávézó ötlete egy biztonságosabb szocializációs tér szükségszerűségéből indult el, mely szabad a piaci verseny és tőkéseinek nyomásától, valamint a fogyasztás kényszerétől.
Eseményeink és tevékenységeink kizárólag adomány alapúak, melyekből e helyiséget tartjuk fenn.

U.I.: Bár szeretjük az állatokat, a virágokra, a kertre és Betty kutyánk nyugalmára ügyelve (akit zavar más kutya jelenléte…ennyi), kérünk szépen ne gyertek házi- és vadállatokkal a rendezvényekre. Köszönjük a megértést!

Dragi prietene şi prieteni,
Sambata, 23 ianuarie, începand cu ora 19:00, vă aşteptăm cu chef de povesti si dans, pe Someşului 45 pentru o petrecere Ⓐcasă. Vom pregati, ca de obicei, mancare vegana si vom avea bere si vin de casa, pe langa nelipsita palinca. Meniul se va definitiva pe parcursul saptamanii acesteia, iar pregatirile vor incepe cu cel putin 3 ore inainte; asadar cine doreste sa se alature este binevenit.

Haideti sa petrecem o sambata seara in care lasam la poarta stereotipiile şi presupozitiile, in care creem impreuna un spatiu mai sigur unde lookismul, sexismul, homofobia, rasismul, capitalismul, nu isi au locul.

Nu mai vrem sa fim indiferenti la modul in care structurile societatii in care traim, atitudinile opresive, discriminatorii si etichetele mediatice trec in viata privata. Political is personal and personal is political!

De ce mancare vegana?

Mâncarea vegană reprezinta refuzul de a face parte dintr-un sistem opresiv, in care mediul este distrus şi animalele sunt exploatate pentru comoditatea umană şi profit. Astfel, aproape toată lumea poate servi o masă cu noi, indiferent de dietă.

De ce bere si vin de casa?

Productia independenta de bere si vin de casa porneste din dorinta de a dobândi mai multă autonomie faţă de producţia industrială în masă și de a ne desprinde de mecanismele de marketing ale marilor companii. Folosind metode și rețete simple, ne dorim să scăpăm de eticheta de simpli consumatori, într-o societate bazată pe producție în masă, profit, nevoi inventate și consum inconștient.

Colectivul Ⓐcasă vrea să creeze spații mai sigure pentru toată lumea, indiferent de gen, rasă, clasă sau abilități și încercă să-și imagineze cum ar arăta o societate fără opresiune și ierarhii. Evenimentele şi activităţile pe care le facem se bazeaza exclusiv pe donaţii prin care susţinem acest spaţiu.

Kedves barátaink!

Szeretettel várunk egy újabb A-casa beszélgetős-táncolós bulira a Dézsma utca (Somesului) 45 szám alatt, január 23.-án, szombaton 19 órától. A megszokott módon most is vegán finomságokkal készülünk, lesz házisör és-bor és természetesen pálinka is. A menü a hét folyamán válik
véglegessé, az előkészületek pedig a buli előtt legalább 3 óraval kezdődnek, ha kedved van segíteni, szívesen látunk.

Hagyjátok hát a bejáratnál az előítéleteket és sztereotípiákat gyertek töltsünk el együtt egy szombat estét, ahol a lookizmusnak, szexizmusnak, homofobiának, rasszizmusnak, kapitalizmusnak nincs helye.

Nem akarjuk többé közömbösen nézni ahogy a jelenlegi társadalmi struktúrák, a diszkrimináció, az elnyomás beszivárog magánéletünkbe.

Miért vegán étel?

A vegán diéta környezetvédelmi és állatvédelmi megfontolásokból alakult ki és kifejezetten ellenzi az emberek kénye-kedve és a profit nevében történő pusztítást, méltánytalan bánásmódot. Ily módon, diétától függetlenül, szinte mindenki fogyaszthat a kínált ételekből.

Miért házisör/bor?

A sör és a bor házilag történő előállításába azon megfontolásból kezdtünk, hogy az ipari tömegtermelés mechanizmusával ellentétes termelési módszerrel kísérletezzünk; ezáltal a nagyvállalatok marketingjétől eltovolódhatunk, némi függetlenségre teszünk szert és (részben) megszabadulunk fogyasztói minőségünktől. Egyszerű receptek és eljárások, valamint egy bárkinél könnyen berendezhető eszköztár segítségével dolgozunk.
Többek között ezen keresztül is hozzájárulunk a tömegtermeléstől, a nyerészkedéstől, elképzelt szükségletek és a felelőtlen fogyasztástól áthatott társadalmunk alternatív viszonyainak megalapozásához.

Az Ⓐcasă-kollektíva arra törekszik, hogy létrehozzon egy mindenki számára biztonságos helyet, ahol az emberek nemüktől, származásuktól, osztályuktól és képességeiktől függetlenül jól érezhetik magukat, valamint arra, hogy elképzelje, hogyan nézne ki egy ilyenfajta elnyomás és hierarchikus szerkezetek nélküli társadalom. Eseményeinket és ezt a teret kizárólag az itt megforduló emberek dományaiból tartjuk fenn.

Vegan food stands for the refusal to be part of an oppressive system, that destroys the environment and where animals are exploited for human commodity and profit. So, everybody can enjoy a hot meal no matter their diet.

Why homemade beer and wine?

We independently produce beer and wine in order to be autonomous from industrial production and eliminate the marketing mechanism of big companies. Using simple methods, simple recipes and DIY equipment that is easy to build, we avoid being simply consumers in a society based on mass production, profit, invented needs and senseless consuming.
