About Ⓐ-casă
Ⓐ-casă collective is an anti-authoritarian group that. through non-hierarchical organization tries to find sustainable ways to get out of the tyranny for the capitalist system. Through self-organizing and helping eachother we want to advance the struggle for social change while maintaining anti-capitalist and feminist principles, respecting the environment, other beings and humans regardless of gender, race, class, abilities, religion and sexuality.
We imagine a different social order that is based on the free exchange of ideas, things and services, where individuals and communities support each other, and where money isn’t the drive of everything.
Ⓐ-casă is a common, self-managed space that functions and support itself through voluntary donations and activities. It’s a safer space that emerged out of the need for a place friendly to free political discussions and where we can exchange ideas and skills. Until now, Ⓐ-casă has hosted movie projections, debates, workshops, fundraising parties, events with and about healthy food.
Organize an event Ⓐ-casă
The space is open to all groups/individuals who want to hold a presentation, workshop, debate, meeting or any other event that aligns with the collective’s principles.
If you want to organize an event in the space contact us before hand to arrange all the details about communication and technicalities. If it’s necessary, we can provide simultaneous interpretation for foreign speakers.
Permanent Ⓐ-casă activities
Library
In our library you’ll find books, brochures, zines, magazines and albums on political, social, environmental and misc. themes. Every material you can read here is a contribution of an individual or a group. We encourage you to support the library through donations, making your own zines and brochures, translating texts and contributing to a place of critical thought.
Free shop
We encourage the free exchange of things, abilities and knowledge. You can pass by the Ⓐ-casă freeshop to leave things you don’t need and take the ones you do.
DIY
You can make your own stencils, patches, banners, flags, print bags and do all sorts of other stuff. you can find most of the things you need here, but any donations are welcomed.
Also, here you can find tools to repair your bicycle. By learning from one another we can take better care of our bikes. You can contribute with tools or give your own DIY bike-repairing workshop.
Gardening
We believe that producing your own food and saving traditional seeds are the most powerful ways ensure food sovereignty.
The Ⓐ-casă collective is involved in maintaining several community gardens in Cluj. If you want to learn more about urban gardening, saving seeds, permaculture, healthy food or you just want to work in a veggie garden, contact us.
Brewing beer
The small Ⓐ-casă brewery started from the desire to gain more autonomy from mass industrial production and detach from the marketing mechanism of big companies. Using simple methods and recipes we want to step out of being labeled simply as consumers, in a society based on mass production, profit, invented needs and irresponsible consumption.
If you want ot learn how to homebrew beer, you can attend a workshop held periodically Ⓐ-casă. Write us an email and we’ll let you know when’s the next one.
Homemade bread
We have wood-fired oven where we make bread and pizza. If you are curios about baking, contact us.
