After the Crest: What We Do between Upheavals

[RO]În ultimii ani, multe locuri au fost martore unor erupţii de proteste unde oamenii au inundat străzile. Acestea au luat diferite forme: proteste anti-austeritate în Europa, mişcarea Occupy in SUA şi de peste tot, protestele pentru transportul public din Brazilia, resistenţa Gezi din Turcia, revoltele din Bosnia şi cel mai recent – şi cea mai problematică – revoluţia naţionalistă din Ucraina. Dar toate acestea au trecut fără a chiar rezolva cu adevărat problemele care au fost scânteia protestelor. Care au fost limitele care le-au atins şi de ce e nevoie să trecem peste aceste limite? Dacă o singură revoltă nu va distruge capitalismul, trebuie să ne întrebăm care e aspectul important ale acestor culmi ale luptei: ce speraţe avem de la ele, cum se potrivesc pe plan îndepărtat şi cum să profităm de perioada care urmează după ele. În această prezentare, participanţi la luptele sociale din Slovenia şi Statele Unite vor vorbi despre experienţele lor şi vor ridica nişte probleme. Haide pregătit pentru discuţii! Over the past few years, many places have witnessed sudden eruptions of protest in which everyone pours into the streets. This has taken many forms: anti-austerity protests in Europe, Occupy in the US and elsewhere, transportation protests in Brazil, the Gezi resistance in Turkey, the uprising in Bosnia, and most recently—and problematically—the nationalist revolution in Ukraine. But all of these have passed without solving the problems that gave rise to them. What limits have they reached, and what would it take to go beyond these limits? If a single upheaval won’t bring down capitalism, we have to ask what’s important about such high points of struggle: what we hope to get out of them, how they figure in our long-term vision, and how to make the most of the period that follows them. In this presentation, participants in popular struggles in Slovenia and the United States will speak about our experiences and pose questions. Please come ready to discuss!
